The Workbench does not work correctly when you want to add an eBay item as a subvariant to an existing group of subvariants. It creates a new subvariant group with the item that was selected and does not add to the existing subvariant group. See screen shot from Workbench which shows that the item on the right side (the dark green one) has 3 subvariants.
After clicking on the Subvariant text (see red box on the right side) I get a screen where the details of the new subvariant can be added/modified (sofar so good), but after Saving, a new group of only 2 subvariants has been created… Furthermore, the original subvariant group still shows like it has 3 subvariants, but when you click on the “Show 3 subvariants” it only shows 2… See below link:
This is the record which the Workbench created for the new subvariant… take a look at the revision history… The record also shows as having been Verified on 04-Nov-22… although the record was added only just now (and besides, I did not Verify this record at all…)
The following 4 items should be in 1 Subvariant group:
55201
571894
831859
1398318
Varianting using the Workbench also has some issues, whereby fields of the item on the left side get overwritten with information from the item which is being varianted with:
The Item Name
The Color
The Metadata
The Item Description
The Reference # gets whiped out completely
Probably other fields are replaced as well (e.g. Made in, Scale etc)
Here is a screen shot of what this item looked like prior to using the Workbench to Variant it (note: it was varianted with an incorrect Variant group, so I first unvarianted it and then added it to the Workbench):
Varianting there is really only useful for Unapproved Items. We will change that in the title. It basically does the same as clicking on the Variant button (i.e. copy ALL the info from the Database Item that is used as the base for the Variant). If you have two Database Items you want to variant that is much better done in Manage Database Items.
@FritsM please check the Subvariant bug (and the way we now show Subvariants) as we think / hope we fixed that. Again, this is build for quickly subvarianting Unapproved Items (auction house feeds, eBay etc).
